Press Release – Mustika Ratu (MRAT) Establishes Cooperation with the University of Indonesia (UI)

Jakarta – PT Mustika Ratu Tbk (MRAT) cooperates with the University of Indonesia (UI) in the fields of Education, Research, and Community Service, in the Manufacturing of Cosmetics and Traditional Herbal Medicine.

This collaboration was carried out by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between PT Mustika Ratu Tbk (MRAT) and UI on Monday, December 21, 2020, at the Rectorate Building, UI Campus, Depok. The signing was carried out by the President Director of PT Mustika Ratu Tbk (MRAT), Bingar Egidius Situmorang and UI Chancellor, Prof. Ari Kuncoro, S.E., M.A., Ph.D.

The scope of cooperation from this Memorandum of Understanding includes:

  1. Implementation of Education and Training.
  2. Organizing Scientific Activities, Research, Seminars, and Workshops.
  3. Improvement and Development of Human Resources Competence and
  4. Development of new product innovations, manufacturing, and commercialization of products in the category of cosmetics and traditional medicines
  5. Other agreed activities

PT Mustika Ratu Tbk (MRAT) was founded by the grandson of the King of Surakarta Sunanate Paku Buwono X, DR. BRAS. Mooryati Soedibyo, is a leading manufacturer of cosmetics, herbal medicine and health in Indonesia using natural ingredients from Indonesian plants.

Mustika Ratu believes that everything contained in Indonesia’s nature can provide goodness for humans and with the research and development carried out by the Research and Development team of Mustika Ratu, which combines the goodness of Indonesia’s nature and the latest technology, it can provide holistic solutions needed by the Indonesian people.

In the process of developing and researching herbal and cosmetic products, Mustika Ratu has a solid Innovation Team and works closely with external parties consisting of multiclinical experts in their fields. In the internal team of Research and Development and New Product Development consisting of a combination of various professions including Pharmacist, Chemist, Microbiologist and Doctor.

In accordance with Mustika Ratu’s mission, which is to provide holistic service – beauty and health, both inside and out. PT Mustika Ratu Tbk (MRAT) is committed to continuously innovating and transforming in facing the challenges of the domestic and foreign cosmetic, herbal, and health markets. MRAT has formed a board of directors and commissioners filled with professionals from various industries including the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry. Djoko Ramiadji has been appointed as President Commissioner, Haryo Tedjo Baskoro as Commissioner, FG Winarno, and Darodjatun Sanusi as Independent Commissioner. In the board of directors and management, Bingar Egidius Situmorang was elected as President Director, Jodi Andrea Suryokusumo as Finance Director, Kusuma Ida Anjani as Business Development and Innovation Director, Yuniastuti K Putri as Marketing Director, and Pelitawan Tjandrasa as Sales Director.

Meanwhile, UI, which is a modern, comprehensive, open, multi-cultural, and humanist campus, has a wide range of scientific disciplines. As a research university, efforts to achieve the highest achievement in terms of discovery, development and diffusion of knowledge regionally and globally are always carried out. UI also deepens its commitment in its efforts in the field of academic development and research activities through three scopes of knowledge, namely, the Health Sciences Clump, the Social Sciences and Humanities Clump, and the Science and Technology Clump.

Through the collaboration of Mustika Ratu and the University of Indonesia, it is hoped that it can help the community in providing health products made from natural ingredients native to Indonesia that are very useful and contribute to the Indonesian state. Mustika Ratu and the University of Indonesia can also conduct research and development of other herbal products that have great benefits for both health and food needs. This will be a good cooperation for both parties,” said Bingar Egidius Situmorang.

On the same occasion, UI Chancellor Prof. Ari Kuncoro said, “We strongly support the establishment of the penta helix collaboration, it can be seen from the collaboration that we are currently developing together with Mustika Ratu. Synergy with Mustika Ratu is our collective effort and work to be able to contribute to the community. In addition, collaboration with Mustika Ratu is important during this pandemic, because it can support academic development and research and innovation, especially science and health, which can provide many benefits for both and the community.”

Prof. Ari also hopes that this partnership can be a golden bridge for UI and Mustika Ratu in developing the education, health, social and economic sectors in achieving the goals of Sustainable Development.
