UNESCO Gives World Cultural Heritage Inscription Certificate to Indonesia

Jakarta – Indonesia received a UNESCO inscription certificate for the cultural sector. This award was given for Indonesia’s efforts in preserving and advancing culture and sharing it with the world, namely Jamu Wellness Culture as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage on December 6, 2023, at the 18th session in Kasane, Botswana.

The presentation of the original World Cultural Heritage inscription certificate from UNESCO was given by the Secretary of the Directorate General of Multilateral Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Yohpy Ichsan Wardana, to the Director General of Culture (Director General of Culture), Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Ministry of Education and Culture), Hilmar Farid, followed by the presentation of a copy of the healthy culture of Jamu certificate to PT Mustika Ratu Tbk, jamu community and Jamupedia research team at Graha Insan Pendidikan Berprestasi, Kemendikbudristek Office, on Thursday, April 25, 2024.

Before the certification handover procession, the audience was silent to give prayers and tributes to the Empu Jamu Indonesia, Mrs. Dr. Hj. BRA. Mooryati Soedibyo passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 thanks to her services and struggle in fighting for herbal medicine to be recognized by the world.

President Director of PT Mustika Ratu Tbk (MRAT), Bing Egidius Situmorang said that the recognition by the world proves that herbal medicine is not just a health drink, but also has cultural and heritage values that should be preserved and passed on to future generations.
